Justin Hoeckle and crew had a great day fishing with us. Another 1st white marlin for one of the anglers, a yellow fin tuna and 2 mahis. On Thursday, June 21st, William Yeager and several others ventured out with us to the Baltimore Canyon in search of yellow fin tuna. After several hours of dragging baits we were lucky to get bit by a white marlin. Once we returned to the Ocean City Fishing Center William took the traditional plunge for catching his first billfish. On Saturday, June 9th, we traveled to the Wilmington Canyon with hopes of taking part in the epic Bigeye Tuna bite that occurred the day before. Immediately after the final lines were set we were hooked up to our first white marlin of the season. Our lady angler on her very first offshore trip did an excellent job on the reel before the fish eventually became unhooked. We ended the day with (2) white marlin hooks ups, a mahi and a yellow fin tuna. We had a full crew for this year's Mako Mania tournament sponsored by Bahia Marina here in Ocean City, Maryland. Day 1 yielded a 74" mako shark that was nine inches short of the new NOAA size regulation of 83". We also caught several dusky sharks, a big blue shark and a large tiger shark. All fish were released to fight another day. Day 2 yielded slick calm conditions with very little current and wind. We managed to catch and release (2) large dusky sharks, Great times on the new Viking! Looking forward to next year's tournament!! Capt. Mark |
